'Night Scene' by Rachel Pryke
I am an artist and author/illustrator living part-time in Poppit, Cardigan, where my family are from. Painting was the perfect antidote to my years working as a GP whilst my recent foray into illustrating my first children’s book, The Little White House that Blew Away – has been enormous fun. I love painting landscapes in oil and cold wax, but I also enjoy watercolours. The Pembrokeshire coast continues to be an inspiring subject. I am largely self-taught but do regular watercolour and drawing sessions, often accompanied by my painter mum Mary Hugh, who is also a member of CAS/NAG at age 90. I’m happy to take commissions.

'I've Got Rhythm' by Barbara Baskin
The focus of my work is organic in nature bringing the outside inside. The textures vibrate next to each other: a smooth surface surrounded by a gritty shape, or a dark color next to a light. My work has many layers because I think of life that way, as having many facets. Ultimately, my paintings depict my view of life expressing strength, harmony and balance. If my paintings draw you in for a closer look, then to me, the painting has been a success.

'Plane Trails in a Mackerel Sky' by Carol Francis
My work has always been deeply rooted in landscape; investigating the shapes, tones, colours and patterns seen in views of hedges, trees and hills is endlessly engaging. What appears to be the ordinary that surrounds us provides such rich content for exploration and interpretation and I remain completely addicted. Painting in oils has provided lifelong engagement driven by a love of the subtlety of colour which this medium provides. I make drawings en plein air throughout the year and use these as starting points for paintings in the studio. Recently, I have enjoyed using soft pastels and the delicacy and subtlety they provide has led to a new direction. I am a painter and ceramicist who has lived and worked in Wales for 37 years. 1studied fine art at Walthamstow School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools under William Scott, Ken Howard, Peter Blake and Fred Cuming, all of whom emphasised the importance of drawing, a practice that I have always encouraged my students to view as a foundation for artwork. I’ve taught at secondary school level and in adult education and currently, I am fine art tutor to the Rhosygilwen Art Group.

'The Green Hare' by David Beattie
Since his early childhood encounters in the fields surrounding a vast council estate where he grew up, sightings of hares were special and deeply personal to him.
Of his work, he would say,
"The Devil is in the detail.
The detail is in the Hare"
Of his work, he would say,

'Chaos or is it?' by Julie Rising
I live in the Cwmcych valley in Carmarthenshire. I create in my garden studio listening to the birds, the Cych river and Radio 4+6. I graduated with a BA Fine Art and Printing Degree in 2024.
Since childhood I have always been fascinated by design, shape and pattern, which I noticed everywhere, especially in toys, the natural world, textiles, and architecture. I am inspired by line and colour which can be seen in my multi-layered mark making.
Creating in mixed media is how I best express myself, without using words. My artwork is led by observation, memories, photographs and imagination. I like to experiment with a variety of materials and processes including printing and using textiles to build many layers, creating a story. My work is organic, abstract, sometimes conceptual. Shapes evolve unintentionally then the piece starts to build its own narrative or it may be influenced by still life objects, kitchen utensils, tools, beach and nature finds, crockery, music or life events. My colour palettes are influenced by both observations and emotions. I like to take creative risks and find joy in my work when I'm not being prescriptive or overly intentional, which allows for natural flow then my art pieces evolve spontaneously, less structured with more freedom.
This work is one of five, painted in response to the Chaos element of Gabrielle Roths’ 5 Rhythms dance practice.

My work is bold and varied in style and texture. I studied at the School of Colour and Design in Sydney, Australia and then alongside various Australian and New Zealand artists. I have had several solo exhibitions in Australia including at the Muse Gallery, in the Brown Brothers vineyards.
Now living in mid west Wales, I love our rugged coastline and lush valleys, finding inspiration within its raw beauty.
